Is Integration Essential for Education

I do not personally believe that integration is absolutely essential in order for one to achieve a great education. While I do believe that integration is important to education, I believe that there are other factors that play a more critical role in education. Often times when schools attempt to integration their student population it has the opposite effect of being helpful and can further isolate the minority students of whom the school is attempting to integrate. These students often just ban together into groups of their own races instead of socializing and learning together. I also believe that integration is used as a crutch for schools as to why they are not able to provide a well rounded education. It is also racist to say that, for example, an African American student requires white students and Hispanic students to be in the classroom in order for them to learn. I do believe that integration can give students exposure and life lessons into different groups of people; however, just because someone is part of a different ethnicity does not mean they bring a whole different perspective into an issue or education. People within one ethnicity can all have different life experiences as well as come from different walks of life so to say that different races are required to give a well rounded education is not true.
