Aaliyah Chin - Affirmative Action

Affirmative action plays a positive role in the lives of many people of color. It may seem unfair because there is a certain quota of people of color that must be filled each year. Although this seems like it is giving people of color the upper hand, it is just leveling the playing field. Many of these ivy league schools that students of color now attend  may not have been chosen to attend if not for affirmative action. Many view affirmative action as something that allows people who don't deserve it to be admitted to top universities but it gives perfectly credible students of a different social standing an opportunity to a great education that they otherwise would not have experienced. Though affirmative action gives minorities a boost, we should consider legacy which gives white people the upper hand.
