Aaliyah Chin - Integration

Integration in our schools is essential. After students leave their various schools where they only see and interact with people of the same race and socioeconomic class as them they will be thrown into a world completely new to them. In college and in the corporate world there will be people of all different backgrounds and races. Integrating schools will prepare students for these interactions which they will be forced to have after high school. In an integrated school, children will be familiarized with different types of people. Familiarizing students of different backgrounds can and will put many stereotypes to rest that may surface in the corporate world if they are not introduced or made aware of these differences earlier. these stereotypes come out in the form of microagressions, slurs and plain insensitive comments.
