Alma von Graffenried - Does student integration in schools matter in order to ensure educational equity?

Student integration is essential to ensuring educational equity in our school system. Schools that have a student body of 90%-100% white students usually have access to more funds, resources, and have high test scores. Schools with majority black or hispanic students have lower test scores as a result of lesser funding and minimal resources. School integration is the only way to insure both groups have access to the same level of education. It also benefits a classroom to have many intellectual viewpoints, having mostly students of one race and ethnicity stifles the discussion level possible. Students should be exposed to people of different races and backgrounds at a young age as it teaches them to accept difference. So yes, student integration in schools does matter in order to ensure educational equity.
