Gabriel Espaillant - Integration Response
School integration is neccesary to ensure educational equity. My reasoning for this is that everyone needs to have a good enviorment to learn in for a good education. A enviorment where people have never seen people of another race is not a good enviorment because that is a breeding ground for prejudice and ignorance. In integrated schools people are able to base what they know about people of other races by experiences. They will not be placed in a mind set made for them by the community they live in, but rather learn to create their own opinions. It would also create better class room discussions. There will be inevitable diffrences in their lives. To be able to speak upon that and learn from one another would create a better class room enviorment. They become immersed into diffrent cultures. That will help them both relate to other cultures through their similarities and embrace each other's diffrences. They will be able to do things impossible in non integrated schools. They would not base what they know solely on assumption, but on fact. They will be able to differentiate between what is true and what is solely stereotype. It will create a community of accepting scholars.
