N. Cancar on Affirmative Action
Affirmative action is a noble cause and one worth fighting to keep. And although some may say it has not made any notable changes in society, it has definitely left a lasting impact. Affirmative action is a stepping stone, a bridge if you will; one that sends a message to minorities: everyone can achieve greatness. Afernative action sets up minorities who are willing to succeed with the necessary materials. Some may argue that it takes away from white students in the same position as those of minorities. However they fail to see the greater inequality among white scholars and minority scholars. The bitter truth is that whites are predominantly favored over minorities. And it us only through progressions such as affirmative action by which we take part in fighting a war against such inequalities. It's a way to "level the playing feild" so to speak.
