I believe that affirmative action should not be eliminated. In my opinion it’s a long term solution to solving and making right out of the oppression that has been occurring for many decades and centuries. Even though it seems unfair or offensive to put certain races in an ‘advantage’ it’s more of a chance to give people who aren’t top students a chance if they notice they have potential. Since most minorities are at a disadvantage in educational equity, affirmative action helps provide potential to succeed even when they have had lack of help or supply in their path. Long-term wise this is also beneficial to educational equity because if one person were to be benefitted and be successful in life by affirmative action, and their next generation will be benefitted, eventually this will not be needed because the past generations have been raised from poverty and into a general and privileged class, so affirmative action picks out the people who have worked hard and shown or proven that they are capable of working in the world despite their lower grades or scores. It’s a way to bypass the years of disadvantage faced, and also to separate the hardworking people in the mix of scores and numbers.
