Princess Jones - Integration Response
Student integration in schools matter in order to ensure educational equity, because different groups get to learn about each other's cultures and backgrounds. This also matters because an individual gets to meet new people besides his/her own race. Student integration also increases equal opportunities. For example, if blacks and Hispanics went to the same school as a few white students, then the opportunities for a job and education will be equal. I go to an integrated school. I've met tons of great people who are not the same race as me. I've gotten to learn their culture/religion/beliefs. I have friends who are Guatemalan, Ecuadorian, Colombian, Mexican, and also Caucasian. Most of my friends are Christian/Catholic and one of them is actually Jewish. I've talked to her about the holidays that she celebrates (such as passover). All my life, I've gone to integrated schools and as a result, I am glad that I have. I am able to meet people (besides my own race) and call them my friends.
