Does student integration in schools matter in order to ensure educational equity?

  Integration is beneficial to ensure educational equity because students are able to do well in a different environment. Students  are open to a more complex world where everyone is open to a wide range of beliefs, culture and etc. When schools are integrated students are able to step out of their comfort zones and experience new ideas rather than staying in one group that is similar to theirs. According to Brown v Board of Ed the citizens wanted to make schools integrated because they believed that students should receive the same opportunities. The Supreme Court’s ruling that racially segregated schools were “inherently unequal” showed that separating races were immoral and was an act of injustice. Even after the Brown v Board case which occurred over 60 years ago, this idea of having integrated schools is still a dream rather than reality. Although many people believe the school system is integrated there are some schools that are racially segregated due to location,zoned schools or the parents income.  In addition to, integration will be able to foster students mental developments because they are able to understand complex topics.  It serves to mend the achievement gap.
In a study;
"Schools that effectively implemented integration have either significantly reduced or completely eliminated the educational achievement gap for economically disadvantaged students," (science daily). It explains the benefits of integrating schools and it's impact.
