Does student integration in schools matter in order to ensure educational equity? Opinion
To be honest, I felt like that the question is one that is not often asked. To me, I never thought about it before in my life. So when Olivia asked that question, I actually realized that it was one that was never asked. It was a totally different question of what I've expected, but it was really fun and something that I needed a lot of time to think about it. But I honestly think that we need integration because it helps with stereotypes, and expose you to the world more. Also it could be more serious when you don't know about racism, and just assume stereotypes about people of different colors. I personally come from an all/mostly Asian elementary school, and I formed my own stereotypes and opinion there about minorities. As I went to middle school, I figured out that some of my opinions aren't true. I became friends with most of the nicest minorities that I've met in my life. And now in high school, I became friends with other people that are not my race. So I believe that we need intergration in our society, and schools.
