Micro-aggressions

Micro aggressions, intentional or unintentional, can cause serious harm to some individuals. Most people who commit micro-aggressions are unaware of the fact that what they are saying can have an effect on an individual. While to say that all people will be offended by micro-aggressions is too general a statement, it is true that they can be highly offensive to some groups of people or individuals. In my opinion, intent matters. Whether or not a person intends to inflict harm upon another person, to me, will move the aggression into either the category of micro or macro. In my opinion, micro-aggressions are committed by people who don't necessarily have the intent to harm another, while a macro-aggression is committed with the intent to harm and offend others. However, regardless of the fact that a person may not be aware of the offensive nature of their statement, micro-aggressions can cause harm to individuals and should be made aware to others.
