Affirmative Action

Affirmative action is a policy that favors people who face discrimination in relation to getting a job and going to school (positive discrimination). Most of the time, affirmative action favors minorities to help them get a job or get into a school just because they are a minority. For example, if a minority got the same SAT score as a white student, then the minority would get into that school just because he or she is a minority. I find this policy unfair to non-minorities (or the majority) because they don't have as equal a chance of getting accepted. Although some people might say that this policy gives minorities a chance because they couldnt live an equal life, I say we can start making their lives equal by taking away this policy. Sometimes well qualified people lose a spot into that position or school to less qualified people. Why put someone who might struggle into a challenging position? Just because they are a minority? How will that benefit them? Although affirmative action is trying to help minorities, it isn't fair to the majority and may ultimately lead to the minorities' failure.
